Spent yesterday afternoon and evening mixing the epic Soft Hearted Scientists cover version of “Please Read Me” by the Bee Gees. Only the second cover we have ever done and the intention was to take the very modest original into the stratosphere or else what’s the point?
It’s a beast of two halves – the first half being a radio friendly single which then morphs into a floating cosmic soundscape that stretches to 6 and a half minutes. No way we could compete with the Bee Gees vocals so we didn’t try and instead wove lots of little instrumental and electronic textures into the mix like mischievous sonic elves.
Should be available on the Fruits de mer label next summer.
